CEAS' Professor, Aldo Madariaga, together with Felipe González (Universidad Central), edited a new issue of Economic Sociology, the European Electronic Newsletter.
Asides from the introduction written by the editors, that offers a global insight on the state of the research in economic sociology and political economy in Latin America, in this issue an article by Nicolás Gómez (Universidad Central, Chile), speaking about solidary economies in the region, and another one by Maritza Paredes (PUC Perú) about extractivism, inequality and State capacity in the Andean region can be found. This issue also contains an interview with prof. Andrew Schrank (U. Brown), who spoke about the challenges of studying American Latin economy from an interdisciplinary point of view, and a small review about the meeting of the economy study group in Brasil, where "the public role of research on economy" was discussed.
This is the third -and last- issue that will be edited by prof. Madariaga. In previous year, this journal was edited by prestigious researchers from the economic sociology field, such as Richard Swedberg (U Cornell), Jens Beckert (Mac Planck Institute, Colonia) and Nina Bandelj (U California, Irvine), amongst others.
