Between July 29th and August 2nd 2019, the Winter School titled "Inequalities" will be held at Universidad Mayor. This flash course is aimed at undergraduate students of Universidad Mayor.
The main objective of this workshop is to give a broad and multidimensional overview of the concept of inequality, through which the participants can undertake different disciplinary approaches to this problem, as well as the rol public policy has played in its reduction. Additionally, a crash course on Statistical Software R will be held.
The course structure will be as follows:

1. Introduction to the Economics of Inequality | Claudia Sanhueza | Introductory module. What is Inequality? Normative and theoretical points of view. Inequality measurement: the Gini and Palma Index. |
2. Social Inequalities | Jorge Atria | Symbolic distintions, discrimination. A framework that trascends the purely economical. |
3. Territorial Inequalities | Rodrigo Pérez | Inequality in access to human capital, labor markets, migration, spacial segregation. |
4. Preferences on Inequality | Alejandra Vásquez | A deep analysis on preferences based on studies of behavioral and experimental economics. |
5. Time use Inequalities | Jorge Rosales | Gender gaps and other relevant variables in time use. |
6. Political Inequality | Aldo Madariaga | Inequality in political representation, sense of political self-efficacy and other related issues. |
7. Socio-environmental inequalities | Mayarí Castillo | Inequality on the exposure to environmental suffering, unequal access to natural resources. |
8. Quantitative data analysis workshop | Diego Sandoval | Introduction to the R software |
