The Director of the Center for Economics and Social Policies, Claudia Sanhueza, will present at the Annual Meeting of the Economy Society of Chile, version 2019, to be held at the Universidad de los Andes on September 12 and 13.
The presentation of Claudia Sanhueza, entitled "The effect of schooling on birth outcomes: Evidence from a school reform in Chile" will be held at the table "Economics of Education 2", on September 13 at 9 am.
About the presentation
Using discontinuous regressions with a specific exposure to the age of a Chilean educational reform in 2003, and with administrative data of the birth registration, the article seeks to assess the impact of formal instruction on adolescent pregnancy and other outcomes associated with childbirth. The results show that this 2003 public policy increased the level of education in the population, reduced the incidence of teenage pregnancies and improved pregnancy outcomes.
