Bettina Schorr, academic director fo the Sustainable Development and Social Inequalities in the Andean Region (trAndeS) program, which is sponsored by both the Freie Universität de Berlin, and Pontificia Universidad Católica of Perú, will conduct the academic seminar titled "Sustainable development: an agenda from the Social Sciences" next wednesday, 3rd of July.
About the presentation
The presentation will be aligned with those of the post-graduate program guided by Bettina Schorr, that seeks to create and disseminate scientific knowledge that can contribute to attain the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) proposed by the United Nations for the Andean region. In particular, it seeks to generate a link between two dimensions: the first, the concept of sustainable development based on the 17 goals set by the United Nations for 2030; the second, the huge socioeconomical, sociopolitical and socioecological inequalities that still exist in the andean regions.
The goal is the identify how these inequalities can be understood as one of the main challenges of the SDG, and how the SGD can contribute to a significative reduction on inequality.
