What is CESIEP?
The Center for the Socioeconomic Impact of Environmental Policies, CESIEP, is a Millennium Scientific Nucleus funded by the Millennium Scientific Research Program of the Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism of the Government of Chile hosted at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and the University of Talca.
The general objective of the center is to evaluate the environmental, social and economic sustainability of environmental public policies. It is specifically sought to understand and measure the socio-economic impacts of these policies and the factors that explain these impacts. Specifically, the center seeks:
- Contribute to the establishment and formulation of political agenda by providing scientific evidence on environmental problems.
- Measure welfare gains and losses, causal mechanisms and heterogeneity of the impact associated with PARs.
- Evaluate spatial and temporal synergies, and tradeoffs between environmental and socioeconomic results.
