[New publication] Understanding policy change through bricolage: The case of Chile's renewable energy policy, by Aldo Madariaga

Aldo Madariaga published an article entitled “Understanding policy change through bricolage: The case of Chile's renewable energy policy” in the magazine on politics, administration and institutions: “Governance”, known for being the Top 5 in public administration and Top 10 in political science Web of Science (WoS) ranking.

The research addresses the gradual change in the use of renewable energies in Chile, and contributes to discussions about energy policy changes in Chile. The main topic discussed in the article is the mechanism of bricolage, a recombination of old and new ideas from policy entrepreneurs that, according to academics, has not received enough attention compared to other methods.

The research methodology consisted of addressing the literature of ideas and policy change oriented to the mechanism of bricolage, in addition to describing Chilean energy policy as the least likely case for change compared to countries that have undergone transformations in their energy policy.

Finally, an explanation is given regarding the process of change in Chile through bricolage, the answer during the implementation of the policy following the institutionalization of these ideas, to conclude on the duality of bricolage as a mechanism of change, put which is functional both to advance in the transformation of policies and to hide conflicts that can be unraveled once the new policy is institutionalized.
