Claudia Sanhueza and Jorge Atria made a paper together with Ricardo Mayer, entitled "Top Incomes in Chile: A Historical Perspective on Income Inequality, 1964–2017", published in the academic journal Review of Income and Wealth.
The publication analyzes 53 years of income in Chile, where you can see an estimate of low and decreasing tax revenues in the 1960s, which increase at the time of the dictatorship (1973-1989), culminating with a high concentration of income slowly decreasing during the period of democracy (1990 - 2017).
This research exposes an increase in income inequality from the return of democracy, reaffirming the uncomfortable reality of Chile, one of the most unequal countries not only within the OECD, but also throughout Latin America.
