Right-Wing Moderation, Left-Wing Inertia and Political Cartelisation in Post-Transition Chile, by Aldo Madariaga

The CEAS researcher made a publication for the Journal of Latin American Studies

The researcher at the Center for Economy and Social Policies, Aldo Madariaga, conducted an investigation together with the academic Cristóbal Rovira Kaltwasser entitled “Right-Wing Moderation, Left-Wing Inertia and Political Cartelisation in Post-Transition Chile”, which was published in the journal Interdisciplinary "Journal of Latin American Studies" of the University of Cambridge.

Research shows that there is a convergence between the electoral strategies of the center-left and center-right coalitions, the first characterized by inertia and the second by programmatic moderation.

The study also reinforces the findings of the post-transition literature in Chile, which exposes a greater collusion between the center-right and center-left parties, who have not been able to meet the expectations of a better representativeness and have had difficulties with compliance of the demands of citizenship.
