The professor of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the Universidad de Chile, Esteban Puentes, will hold a seminar on October 11 at 1:00 p.m., at the offices of the Center for Economics and Social Policies of the Universidad Mayor located in José Toribio Medina 29, Santiago.

The seminar will focus on the recent research by Abhijit Banerjee, Claudia Martínez and Esteban Puentes, entitled: “Better Strategies for Saving More: Evidence from Four Impact Evaluations in Chile”.

The research evaluated different strategies aimed at increasing savings. The use of predetermined rules showed that positive savings results could be obtained, but were not sustained in the long term. The use of general rules also gave positive effects, while SMS reminders showed negative and unexpected results in account balances.
