In a new academic seminar, the postdoctoral student of the Universidad Católica of Chile, Giovanni Vecchio, will present his work "Urban mobility in Santiago: what policies for an unequal city?". The activity will take place on Friday, October 4 at 1:00 p.m. in the CEAS seminar room (José Toribio Medina 29, Santiago Centro).
About the presentation
In an unequal city like Santiago, Chile, urban mobility is at the same time cause and effect of inequality. However, the research that works with the subject in Santiago suffers from two limitations: on the one hand, quantitative and qualitative approaches do not interact with each other despite the relevant results they generate; on the other, the impact of these investigations on plans and policies is still limited. Discussing the gap between research and policies, and showing the results of some work in progress, the presentation aims to highlight possible directions and challenges for public policies that, intervening on mobility, can contribute to a fairer city.
