Our goal is to assess what variables make the gender gap in socioeconomic results persistents, looking closely at non-standard variables. Specifically: 1) to determine what part of the wage gap is atributable to motherhood in comparison to being a woman, and the lingering effects of both, 2) assess the role of competivity, self-confidence and risk-aversion in carreer choices and labor outcomes for women and men, and 3) qualitatively assess how both factors, motherhood and expectations, affect work trajectories and family in elite professionals in Chile.
