[Interview] Jorge Rosales talked about the weather emergency on TXS Radio

The interview took place in the program “The science of the future”

The researcher of the Center for Economics and Social Policies, Jorge Rosales, was interviewed on January 16, 2020 in the program The science of the Future of TXS Radio, in the framework of his participation in Economists For Future.

During the interview, Jorge Rosales referred to the COP25 as an wasted instance by our country, where there was a great disorganization and it was not possible for the countries with the highest percentage of CO2 emissions to commit to the environmental emergency that is being experienced in the present.

Rosales highlighted the difference between the concepts of emergency and environmental crisis, because the word "environmental crisis" refers to a challenge to face the future, while "environmental emergency" refers to a problem that is already occurring in the Present.

Regarding his participation in Economists For Future, the CEAS researcher spoke about the importance of the economic dimension in the field of climate change, since the economy directly affects the environment by the emission of greenhouse gases and the pricing of carbon established by the Paris agreement.

In addition, he said that the economy is also affected by climate change thanks to workers' health problems, which leads to decreased productivity, and other problems such as damage to infrastructure and sea level rise, which translates into economic losses.
