The Director of the Center for Economics and Social Policies, Claudia Sanhueza, participated on Tuesday, December 10, in the seminar "The Neoliberal City in Crisis: Diagnoses and proposals for transformation in the framework of the constituent process", organized at the Institute of Urban and Territorial Studies of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
Claudia Sanhueza was part of the panel of specialists, to talk about the urban and housing problem in Chile and propose initiatives to improve these deficiencies in the framework of the constituent process.
In her presentation, the Director of CEAS addressed the issue of land distribution and how it affects the distribution of wealth. He also referred to the problems with housing policy, which has omitted the effects that the real estate market has in terms of segregation and citizen welfare, prioritizing more cost savings instead of quality of life and access to services.
According to Claudia Sanhueza, a new constitution would help the State to rethink a new housing policy focused on the well-being of the population and avoid social segregation.
